My 5 Strengths

So these are apparently my top five strengths

Belief- I have a strong belief system that causes me to be very family oriented and my beliefs are the core of most of my relationships. People know where I stand and can trust me to stay there. My beliefs give my life meaning.

Empathy- I intuitively know how people are feeling. I can be a listening ear to them, even if I do not completely agree with what they are saying, or with what they have done, I can still be a support to them becasue I can look at things from their perspective.

Connectedness- I believe that everything happens for a reason and that the choices we make effect the world around us. For this reason, I believe that it is important for everyone to be careful of what they do. This also gives me a sense of purpose, that somehow God is guiding us, even in the difficult times.

Developer- I see potential in others and I desire to help see that potential fulfilled. I challenge others to grow and try to help them in that process. I see the small steps of growth in people that many other people would overlook. It is this act of helping others to grow and develop that gives me great satisfaction, for this reason people come to me to help them in times of need, especially for encouragement.

Adaptability- I do not have my whole life planned out. Yes, I have plans, but I know that life will most likely not turn out just how I have planned it, and I am okay with this. Detours are a part of life and something that I do not resent taking part in. Plans change and that is okay with me.

I do see these strengths in me, although I have not developed many of them fully. However, they are there, and I am excited to develop them more. What do you think of these as my top five strengths? Do they fit me? Do you have comments about where you do or do not see them in me. Please respond :) Thanks!

Who Am I ?

My name is Elizabeth Marie Stoker, but I go by Beth. My parents are missionaries with the Evangelical Covenant Church. I was born in Zaire (Central Africa), but when I was in second grade we had to evacuate from there because of a civil war. Since fourth grade, I have lived in Yaounde, Cameroon (also Central Africa), and I now consider that to be my home. It is the place that I know the best and love the most, and it is a huge part of me!
Another important part of who I am is my family:) I am a middle child (in between to brothers) and my parents are both teachers. My mom is a science teacher and my dad is an economics teacher, although he is primarily an accountant. I love my family very much and they have taught me a lot through the years. I know that without my parents' love and support I would not be where I am today.
My interests include singing, playing board games, playing card games, listening to music, talking with friends, playing sports (especially volleyball and tennis), watching sports (especially baseball, soccer, and tennis), and watching TV (something I try to avoid but I really do enjoy). I like most music other than rap and heavy metal, my favorite games are Risk, Settlers, Star Munchkin, Pass the Pigs, Hearts, Hand and Foot, Rook, Poker, and Liverpool Rummi, my favorite soccer team is the Cameroon national team (the indominable lions), and my baseball team is the San Diego Padres!
The last huge component of who I am is my faith in God. Jesus Christ is my Savior and Lord and it is my bigges desire to serve and honor Him with my life. I pray that everything I do will be pleasing to Him and that every day that I live will draw me closer to Him. Without God my life has no meaning, and so He really is the core of who I am. When asked who I am, I hope that the easy answer is that I am a Christian.
